R&D (Senior) Engineer for Marine Power System Testing

We are seeking a talented R&D (Senior) Engineer to join our team and drive forward our marine power system testing activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of Hardware-in-the-loop simulation as a test platform for marine power systems, as well as actively participating in hands-on testing activities. To succeed in this role, we expect candidates to have an educational background in electric drives and switchboards, with experience in control automation systems (e.g. PLC programming, field bus communication protocols). Knowledge of fuel cell systems, energy storage systems, shore connection systems, power and energy management systems, and shaft generator systems would be a benefit. This is a critical role that requires a highly motivated and technically skilled individual with a passion for engineering excellence and an interest in the marine industry. Technology ManagerYour responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of Hardware-in-loop simulation test cases for marine power systems testing projects
- Develop test plans and procedures for hardware and software testing
- Define and execute test cases for marine power systems and components, including diesel engines, generators, fuel cell systems, energy storage systems, shore connection systems, power and energy management systems, and shaft generator systems
- Actively participate in hands-on testing activities alongside the team of engineers and technicians
- Analyze and interpret test results and provide recommendations for system improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve system issues
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations
Your background
- Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Technical expertise in electrical and electronic systems (electric drives and switchboards), control systems, fieldbus protocols
- Knowledge and experience with some of the following systems: power systems, including diesel engines, generators, and power distribution systems, as well as fuel cell systems, energy storage systems, shore connection systems, power and energy management systems, and shaft generator systems
- Competencies for driving and leading test activities
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Hands-on experience in the design and implementation of Hardware-in-loop simulation test platforms is a benefit
- Fluent communication in English (both spoken and written), Finnish is seen as an asset
